How I Built an Events Website That Helped To Sell Out a National Tour

Every year, a unique event tours the UK, celebrating Islamic heritage, culture, and spirituality. I built the official events website to support this powerful experience. In its very first year, the entire tour sold out. Here’s how I helped to make it happen.

Beginning With An Unknown Events Tour

When designing the website for this tour company, no-one had heard of it. A brand new start-up tour. From the offset, I prioritised building an impactful site with mystery and presence to increase the curiosity of website visitors. This creates a buzz and get’s the audience speaking. With such a new event, search visibility was a priority. I structured content with targeted keywords, fast loading times and mobile-friendly design. As a result, the site gained strong rankings which helped the tour sell out quickly.

Prioritising Event Management

Universe Ticketing platform was linked into the site to provide a fully integrated ticketing system. This minimised admin required to efficiently manage the event. QR code e-tickets which are scannable at the door are sent straight into user’s inboxes. Smooth event management through website purchases facilitate both the audience and event management team’s smooth experience.

A Design To Showcase Spirituality

Furthermore, it was important for a brand-new event to give a clear message at a glance as to what it has to offer. Therefore highlighting both the spiritual essence of the event alongside the main headline acts made the event information scannable. Taking this into consideration, dates and locations are made visible on the homepage, so that users have less navigating to find out key information.

Mobile-First, Responsive Design

As majority of website visitors come through their mobile devices, core priority was responsiveness. Carefully designed and tested for a seamless experience across all screen sizes. Layouts and menus are all optimised for easy access and readability on smartphones and tablets.

Seamless Integrations: Mailchimp, PayPal, and Google Analytics

To support ticket sales and engagement, I integrated Mailchimp for increased newsletter sign-ups. This enables the events organisation to easily share updates about events, new releases, and announcements with its audience.

Universe integration allows users to securely purchase tickets for events. Furthermore, paypal integration allows users to purchase merchandise from the woo commerce shop securely.

Additionally, Google Analytics was implemented to track user behaviour, monitor traffic sources and better understand how visitors engage with the site. This data helps the organisation make informed decisions about future events, advertising and site improvements.

Outcome: A Platform That Embodies Purpose

As a result, the website became a spiritually inspiring and user friendly site. It mirrors the event’s energy. From the first glance it’s clear as to the purpose of the events. This impactful design helped the event to sell out in it’s first year.
